Binna Burra Mountain Lodge & Campsite allows you to explore the wonders of the wilderness as you explore the magnificent subtropical rainforests of Lamington National Park.
Soak up all that Mother Nature offers in the rich abundance of birds and wildlife that inhabit this complex ecosystem that is part of the World Heritage-listed rainforests of the Gold Coast Hinterland, in the Sunshine State of Queensland.
Binna Burra Lodge was created in 1930's by environmental pioneers Arthur Groom and Romeo Lahey. Their vision was to create a place where people could stay and experience the beauty of the Lamington National Park rainforest.
Binna Burra is our mutual inheritance from these visionaries and allows us to share through interpretive walks and educational programs, their committment to preserving this natural wilderness for future generations.
Their plans were to create a place where you and I could learn more about the rainforest through guided activities, discussions and first-hand encounters with the varied wildlife.
That ideal is the 'essence' of the Binna Burra experience. Every day, guests can take part in a full program of guided bushwalks, adventure activities, evening spotlighting, lectures, discussions, parlour games and picnics.
Bushwalking - Binna Burra's resident guides are all experienced naturalists and are happy to share their in-depth knowledge of the park ecosystems.
Abseiling - How do you fancy learning to rapel down a 10m face of a volcanic escarpment ... followed by putting all that learning into practice by doing it on a specially selected 90m cliff-face? (Gulp!) Flying Fox - Why not zoom over the treetops on a 160m long Flying Fox ... it's a special experience, believe me. Ropes Course - Both the low and high zipline rope courses are skilfully designed to enhance teambuilding exercises for conferences, sporting clubs, schools or conscientious corporations. Orienteering - "The Thought Sport" - orienteering tests groups ability to make decisions and negotiate differences of opinions. The challenge involves reading a detailed map of the Binna Burra area with the aim of finding a route around the tracks to locate markers in the most efficient and fastest way possible. For the Children - The Echidna Club is Kids Only - Adults Keep Out - for educating children and developing nature awareness. Bushwalks, archery, picnics and other rainforest adventures are the reasons why kids want to keep coming back. They also love the Discovery Forest, an environmental playground where they can learn all about the forces of nature.
In the Evening - Enjoy the old fashioned fun of a campfire sing-along or a typical Australian bush dance. Our guides also host nocturnal spotlight adventures and regular discussions on the history of the Lodge and the rainforest environment.
Binna Burra gives you a great taste for the area that leads nicely on to Lamington National Park.
