A Personal Family Look
At A Holiday At Coolangatta Gold Coast

Coolangatta Gold Coast is where the coastline stops at the boundary of the State of Queensland and New South Wales.

So it's a border town and is also where the Gold Coast's International Airport is located.

Just to confuse overseas visitors, Coolangatta has an adjoining New South Wales Twin Town called Tweed Heads ... don't worry, you don't need passports ... the border is only a line on a map. Just treat them both as one place.

The centre of Coolangatta Gold Coast beach life are the beautiful protected beaches of Coolangatta and Greenmount. Both are great for surfing and perfect spots for families and form one continuous beach.

Both beaches form a continuous strand with foreshore greenery with picnic tables and cafes opposite the beach offering dining choices galore.

There's even an annual A La Carte gourmet food festival on the Coolangatta Gold Coast Beach in September ... Leonie and I have been; yum!

There are two surf lifesaving clubs. The Coolangatta Gold Coast Beach club is opposite Dutton Street on Marine Parade, and the Greenmount club is on the corner of Marine Parade and Hill St.

Like all Life Savers, give them your suport ... they train to risk their lives, so you can have yours!!

A backdrop to these beautiful beaches are a oceanfront apartments with breathtaking views, restaurants and "shop 'til you drop" variety that will satisfy all your needs.

OK, if you want to get off the beach for a while, just walk to the southern end of Greenmount beach and up to a small rocky elevated headland and Pat Fagan Park that gives you great views.

Walk a bit further and you'll find another sandy beach at Rainbow Bay protected by Snapper Rocks; has its own Surf Life Saving Club and is very popular with surfers.

Stroll on a bit further around Snapper Rocks and you'll be looking at the renowned Duranbah Surfing Beach (sometimes referred to as Flagstaff Beach by locals).

Not just that, you'll be standing at Coolangatta Gold Coast Point Danger, named by Captain Cook, on which stands an 18 metre memorial to him as well as a lighthouse.

Point Danger gives you panoramic views north to Surfers Paradise, east to the Coral Sea and south to Fingal Head.

Also from June to November each year you'll be able to see migrating whales and of course, dolphins year-round.

Ok, that's enough of the Coolangatta Gold Coast beach, let's go to town.

Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to major Clubs.

If you are a visitor from overseas, you will not have seen this Australian Club concept before. These clubs have some of the biggest sporting and entertainment venues in Australia, featuring live entertainment, gaming machines, restaurants and world-class sporting facilities.

All you need to do to enter these Coolangatta Gold Coast clubs is present your drivers license to prove you are a visitor to the area.
